I am a Samurai

During this summer in New York, at the UN Summit, I have realized that most probably I am a Samurai.

Thanks to Petri Niskanen’s book the Business Bushido / Seven Values of Leadership, now I am even certain.

Just read Past JCI World President Petri’s book in few hours. The book is a Nescafe style book (in the age of Nespresso, instant is not equal with cheap anymore, that is why I dare to use these words for an indeed good book), includes many JCI stories and lifetime example and quotes from famous guys.

I mean, it can be read in short time, but gives you something that fills you and help you to move ahead, is not what a good but instantly made coffee is all about?

Anyway, the book is focusing on the Seven values of Leadership based on the Samurai’s code of conduct the Bushido.

The 7 values are: Rectitude, Respect, Courage, Honor, Benevolence, Honesty and Loyalty.

I have realized that during my 8 years of involvement at JCI worldwide matters I have left every day of my life according to these words. I have to admit it does not shown every time, and there were bad days as well when i was a bad boy myself, but as Petri states in the book “One way, but sometimes a hard way, to learn how to behave is to misbehave and learn from it”

Acting on worldwide arena, acting based on Mission, Vision and Values of an organization, going ahead with new things and courage, being proud of what I was doing, openly talk about things, but sticking with the same team, is all about Bushido. Being loyal to our master, wheather or not its a company, even our company, makes us the every day Samurai.

I am happy that I become a Hungarian Samurai, I am proud of it!

A bunch of recommendations When I was (I am...) 35, It was a very good year
